Wilson named to BB&T’s Executive Management team
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., July 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — BB&T today announced Heath Campbell has been named president of its Atlanta-based Northern Georgia Region. Campbell, who currently serves as president of the Kentucky Region, will assume the role held by Dontá Wilson, who has been named chief client experience officer and a member of BB&T’s Executive Management team. The management change will be effective Aug.1.

Campbell, 40, has more than 16 years of banking experience. Since joining BB&T in 2003, he has served as a business banker and a business services officer in BB&T’s Charlotte Metro Region, and in 2006, he was promoted to city executive for Iredell County, N.C. In 2009, he served the Greater Washington Region for BB&T as an area executive in Prince George’s County, Md., responsible for the market’s commercial loan portfolio, budget and community involvement. In 2013, Campbell was named president of BB&T’s Kentucky Region.

Campbell has been active in a variety of civic organizations and is on the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; University of Louisville College of Business Advisory Board of Directors; March of Dimes Executive Leadership Team; and the Fund for the Arts Board of Directors.
Campbell earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington and received his MBA at the University of Maryland. He also attended the BB&T Banking School at Wake Forest University.
Wilson, 40, joined BB&T in 1995 and has more than 20 years of banking experience. Prior to being named chief client experience officer, he held area executive, regional president and state president roles for the Community Bank in Prince William County, Va.; Fairfax, Va.; and Birmingham, Ala. Most recently, he has served as regional president of the Atlanta, Ga.-based Northern Georgia Region since 2014.
